The Sony Ericsson Arc is arguably the most stylish handset in the Xperia range. It offers good multimedia functionality, an 8 megapixel camera and a high resolution touchscreen among its key features.

In this article I will look at the music features on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, as this is one of the most commonly used aspects of a smartphone’s multimedia functionality.

The handset is compatible with most of the commonly used music formats, as well as some more obscure formats. These include MP3, eAAC+, WMA and WAV. Therefore, whatever format your music tracks are in, the handset will most likely support them. If you find yourself in a situation where there is a song playing but you do not know the title or artist, then the TrackID app is here to save the day. Installed on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc as standard, this application is on hand to identify unknown tracks. To use it, simply open it and hold the phone near the source of the music, and it will then search its database. If a match is found, all relevant information about the song will be displayed, such as title, artist and album, and you also have the option to purchase and download the song to your phone. The app goes one further though, with the impressive ability to recognise a song when you hum or sing it into the phone.

Whilst the music features of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc are certainly impressive, we must also remember that there are many other equally impressive features about the phone. It has an 8 megapixel camera with flash and high definition video recording, high resolution touchscreen with Bravia Mobile Engine built in, and fast internet browsing. I highly recommend the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc to anyone who likes to store and play music on their phone, but also anyone who is looking for a stylish and feature rich alternative to the likes of the iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S2 which are proving so popular at the moment.
